Have you ever had an epiphany so alarming that you don’t know how describe yourself any longer?

The things I do know:

  • IMG_3019I will steep rose buds in boiling water all day and then drink it.  One of my favorite simple pleasures is to make my own tea– from herbs I’ve purchased or have grown.  Floral (rose, lavender, jasmine) teas?  My favorite!
  • I look forward to camping season all year long.  I love being outdoors, playing in the dirt.  I’m an earth worshiping, dirty-toed tree hugger.  I recycle, and so should you.
  • I can grow just about anything.  I garden and collect houseplants.  There’s nothing more beautiful than being on my hands and knees in the soil, planting tomatoes and peppers.
  • I believe that health– physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental– has everything to do with how you think and what you put into your body.  I strive to know my self, and therefore become more healthful.
  • I am a naturalistic pantheist.  What you call, “God” is synonymous for me with “Good”  and “Goddess” and “The Universe,” “Source,” and “Our Higher Self.”
  • However, I respect all forms of spirituality as a means to an end. People who demonstrate a strong character surrounding their convictions hold my admiration, regardless of who or what they worship.pp
  • I like to talk and/or debate about politics, religion, and sexuality.  Every person has their own perspective and the balance comes from examining all perspectives and taking for yourself what works.
  • One day, I will be a professional writer.  I just don’t know yet what I’ll write about.
  • I recently earned my bachelor’s in Psychology.  I can think of very few things that are more worthless than a psychology degree.  But I enjoyed every class I took– minus the one with the short, pompous Italian teacher who insisted that we write our answers in capital letters so there was no ambiguity over a’s and d’s.
  • Science amazes me.  The mere fact that I’m sitting here at this very moment, typing words out with my fingers on a laptop makes my brain swirl.  If there were no financial limits, I would likely get an undergraduate degree in five more subjects: Math, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Anthropology…  Not to mention my non-science passions like Philosophy, Literature, and Communications.
  • I live  in a house in a suburb of Denver, Colorado, with my soul mate, Landon,dt and his two beautiful kids.  We have two massive Great Danes and two kitties.  Our home is usually filled with Pink Floyd, tons of greenery, books, a brewed pot of coffee, and the gurgling of our fish tank.
  • I’m learning how to parent.  It’s not as easy as you’d think.
  • I do the laundry, and Landon cooks.  We have a cohesive relationship that is most accurately described as being best friends.  I look forward to coming home every day, even when I’m exhausted.  I love being loved, and I *am* completely.
  • I have a complicated past, but have learned a LOT.
  • I think that life is too short to be unhappy, and that I am the only person responsible for making me happy.  I believe that life is about the journey, not the goal.  I know what it’s like to have a complete upheaval of everything I know to be true– and have been completely excited for the prospect of change.  When one door closes, there are always several more that open.  I create this experience, and never know what I’ll come up with next.  And I’m okay with that!

Thank you for joining me on this adventure. It is merely a thought experiment, after all.
