Counting my blessings! 100 things in 10 days

Posted in: Gratitude by POHA on March 11, 2008

Inspired by my lovely friend, Janna, I am going to take on the the challenge. Can I come up with 100 things I’m thankful for? Of course I can!!! I pledge to write down ten things each day for ten days that I am grateful for. Yes, I know I just wrote a count my blessings blog a few days ago, but it’s SO important that I live in an attitude of gratitude. So here it goes!

    1. Always having oatmeal and yogurt to eat.
    2. Spiritually open people.
    3. Springtime always coming after winter.
    4. Clean drinking water.
    5. A job I LOVE!
    6. My thoughtful man.
    7. My doctor’s dry sense of humor.
    8. Beautiful, aware friends.

    Gratitude List

Posted in: Gratitude by POHA on March 3, 2008

Inspired by my dearest friend, Amber Lotus, this is my Gratitude List revisited.  The following things I am utterly thankful for:

    •  I love my job.  I am in the best position for where I am going.  I am surrounded by spectacular people whom I love and respect.  I take pride in where I work.  I am paid well, and it seems like I get raises frequently.  I am appreciated by the families and the surgeons.  I have made some awesome friendships!  I love my cubicle and the new facility.
    • I love my beautiful home!  I have a magnificent home, filled with books and plants and love.  I love the people I live with!  They are my family and my best friends.  When I come home, they run up to greet me with, “Sunshine!!!”
    • We live in the most amazing neighborhood!  We have the best neighbors EVER, who are quickly becoming my close friends.  We have a reservoir and a park RIGHT across the street.  The neighborhood is quiet, safe, and warm.  The people are kind and considerate.  I love my newly found friends across the street, and I always have an excellent time when we’re together.
    • I love my guy.  He’s everything I desire in a partner.  We can and do talk about anything and everything.  I find comfort in his companionship, and love that he’s always there for me.  He is kind, passionate, and aware of how I feel.  We share a beautiful life together, and we’re only becoming closer!  I never dreamed that this would be what it is, and our relationship is even better than what I had thought I could have!
    • I love my new family!  I now help parent and raise two magnificent kids.  They’re happy, healthy, and brilliant.  They get along well and are VERY well behaved.  They are smart, funny, and playful.  They are respectful and generous.  They are aware and astute.
    • I have some of the most amazing relationships, even if I’m not able to see my friends in person regularly.  I have a network of people who enjoy keeping touch with me and holding conversations through email and chat, and for that I’m eternally grateful.  I don’t know that I could make it through my semester without my people who are comfortable having part of– if not a majority of– our communication online.  Eventually, I’ll have time enough to see my people in person, but in the meantime, I still have them right in front of me on the computer.  Yay for that!
    • I have everything I need in my material life.  I always have enough to eat, nice clothes to wear, laundry soap to wash them, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper.  I have enough gas in my car to get me from point A to point B, and I have a reliable vehicle to take me.  I ALWAYS have enough of everything.  I want for nothing as far as my needs go!

I could probably go on and on, gushing with gratitude.  I’m going to end it at that, though, because I think that sufficiently covers my bases.  I am surrounded with good people.  Good friends, good family, good things.  I am truly, truly blessed.

    Awesome!!!!!!

Have you ever seen a child in a complete state of awe?  Think of what it was like as a child to see something magnificent, like a complicated Christmas light show.  Remember that sense of wonder, that sense of magnificence you felt as you couldn’t possibly fathom the genius who put it all together?  Visualize that emotion in your head, and bring it close to you, near you heart.

I would like to constantly be in a state of awe.  That wonderment, that joy… it was as though nothing else in the world existed besides that very moment.   That is the emotion I’d like to wrap myself in.

When I think of being a powerful creator of my own experience, and I think of all of the beautiful material things I want to manifest, I sort of lose glimpse over my goals…  it doesn’t seem quite right in my heart for me to say, “I want millions of dollars and a Jaguar”– even though, yes, I do want these things physically.  It feels better in my soul (perhaps more tangible?) for me to say, “I want to forever be in a state of awe.”  I feel like this feeling– this emotion within me– generally conflicts with any other state of being than to have everything I need and desire… it conflicts with being worried about money.  It conflicts with wondering how I’m going to feed myself or my family…

What I’m saying is that being in a constant state of awe includes providing for myself all of the material things that I think I cannot live without, like a Super V8.

Instead of focusing too much on the material things… I feel more inclined to focus on the feeling.  After all, it is that feeling of being in awe, that feeling of gratitude, which allows you to attract to you all that you desire.

    Abundance Grows On Trees

There have been many synchronicities lately.

So many that “unusual” things have happened.

The most recent: I was speaking with a girlfriend about one of her friends.  She suggested that this friend do an unlikely favor for me.  I brushed it off, stating that I had never really even spoken with this person.   Today, I get a call from a phone number I didn’t recognize.  It was my girlfriend’s friend.  She was calling me to find out if she could get my girlfriend’s phone number from me because her daughter had accidentally deleted her number.

    Hmmm?

It makes me very aware of what I think or say.

Do you ever notice time flying by so quickly– things happening so rapidly– that you hardly have time to catch your breath? I like times like those because I know I’m being active and productive. Still, sometimes I have to just sit down and write in order to compile everything that I think and feel about all that has happened.

    Where do I begin?

    Jesus.

Okay, let’s start with Jesus. I had a realization this weekend.
