Chores Are Fun, Mkay?
Even while being out of school, I’m finding it difficult to take care of all of our responsibilities. We do a sufficient job– we clean thoroughly once every two weeks, and do a little maintenance along the way. I get all of the laundry done once a week, and I usually have it all put away. Minus the kids’ stuff- it’s their job now to put their clothes away. Landon cleans the kitchen at least once a week, and the cat box gets cleaned once a week. We do a pretty good job with just the bare essentials.
There is so much more than this to be done.
Two kids and two dogs and two cats. Are a LOT of work. And if we were better at doing these things ourselves, I’m sure we could convince the kids and the four legged family members to take care of their own responsibilities. I’ve been working on Toby the Cat the longest, and he’s almost ready to fill out his application at Wal-Mart.

We’ve been talking about spreading the chores out throughout the week by creating a calendar. I think we can do it. Just a matter of actually making the calendar and assigning jobs. Kora made a suggestion the other day that we ought to get a step stool for her so she can reach the sink, and then she and Tyler can clean up the dishes after meals. I thought this was brilliant, and frankly I’m shocked that she volunteered her services like that. Also, they’re both fighting over who will clean their toilet and who will clean their sink. You’ll probably be as surprised as I still am that they both want to do the toilet. Hmmm. Gross. I suppose this is an indication that I make chores fun. Points for me in the mother category!
So, while I’m typing this, I technically should be doing chores. Or arranging a calendar. Or something crazy and strange like that.
I suppose I should get on it.
