Looking Forward: Winter of Words

October 20th, 2009

Landon has a wonderful idea about winter-time.  I am trying to adopt it.  He treats this time of year as a form of hibernation, a time to sit back, crawl deep into his head, and figure things out so that come spring time, there’s a whole new butterfly to emerge from the cocoon.  I have always been one to despise winter.  I need the sunshine.  I need to play in the garden or camp in the dirt.  Yet, promises of butterflies don’t sound too terrible.  And to actually enjoy this season… well, that would be nice, wouldn’t it?

I’m immersing myself in books.  Audio books, paperbacks, anything I can get my hands on.  Thankfully, I have an entire  library of amazing books in the basement and a free membership to the local library.  I’m at no shortage for material to read.  As you may have noticed, I’m going to begin doing book reviews.  Also, I will begin scheduling post dates so that there’s plenty of bloggy fodder here on PerilouslyPrecocious and Shine!.

Some of the best advice I’ve heard lately:  Write, Just Write! I have the burning desire.  I have the passion.  I have the words.  It’s high time that I quit sulking and put them all down.   I was trying to keep a particular theme here on this site… but at the same time, it’s important that on the days that I’m not inspired to write something magnificent, that I feel free enough to write something less than that– so that I get out the things that I need to say… and so that the blog doesn’t end up with infrequent updates or worse…

So, this being said, I’m hoping to fill this winter with words.

that’s a good way of looking at winter! i also have cold phobia because i LOVE sunshine. i even have trouble enjoying the beauty of fall because in the back of my mind i keep thinking “here comes winter” instead of enjoying the moment.

Me too, Katrisa. I have the same trouble appreciating fall for the exact same reason!
