Siddhartha

This weekend, I read a really excellent book. I got this as a gift from my lovely friend Elizabeth. I had several Hermann Hesse books in my collection– they were my grandmothers (which automatically rates them as very cool in my own value system). I didn’t have this one though, and I think that it was an excellent introduction to this German author, who was alive when Freud was the Head Honcho of psychology. Mr. Hesse also experience great religious strife, was an active pacifist throughout WWI, and was analyzed by Jung. He spent some time institutionalized, too.

Needless to say, I love this author.

Siddhartha is a book about a young Indian man finding the balance between “Self” and the world.

I learned a lot from this book. I recommend it.
