I’ve never seen a sunset from a beach on the island.  I’ve never seen the tropical flowers thriving in the heat, glistening with dew every morning.  I’ve never sipped pina coladas from a coconut shell or watched the dolphins play in the surf.  I’ve never soaked up the sun on a beach towel along the gulf of the Carribean, and I’ve never laughed at children building sand castles; children giggling with glee as the waves break closer and closer to their moat. I’ve never watched them dance from under my umbrella and straw hat…I’ve never stood by in awe as beautiful bodies hula in the darkness, dancing blissfully around a bonfire.  I’ve never heard the beat, beat, beating of the drums as the tourists get drunk and lounge with content.  I’ve never just laid back and relaxed in the warm salty air, having nothing to do and no one to see; I’ve never smelled the scent of the tropics or tasted the fresh pineapples and oranges. I’ve never felt the hot sand between my toes as I run next to you along the ridges that drop off into nowhere. I’ve never done these things, but when I hear you talk about them, I want you to take me there with you.
